Amorina P. Lopez earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in English and Italian. During college, Ms. Lopez clerked for the nationally recognized law firm of Robinson, Calcagnie, Robinson in Newport Beach, California. She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2011. While attending law school, she worked for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office as a certified law clerk where she wrote and successfully argued motions before the Orange County Superior Court. Ms. Lopez also completed an externship as a certified law clerk for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office as part of her enrollment in Loyola Law School’s William Hobbs/Poehls Trial Advocacy Program during her law school tenure. Ms. Lopez was assigned to the preliminary hearing unit where she drafted and conducted felony preliminary hearings.

Throughout her law school career, Ms. Lopez gained courtroom experience in both civil and criminal litigation, cultivating her trial skills and strong aspiration to redress the grievances of those injured by corporate misconduct. Ms. Lopez joined the firm as an associate in November 2011.

Recently, Ms. Lopez has focused her attention on birth injury cases. As a new mother, Ms. Lopez is passionate about being an advocate for children and families that have experienced the devastating occurrence of injury at birth as a result of medical negligence. In 2021, Ms. Lopez earned an $8 million settlement for her client, a 30-year old woman who was admitted to the hospital for induction due to macrosomia. Over the course of the next two days, the labor and delivery nurses failed to adequately appreciate the findings of the fetal monitoring strips. Once the OB/GYN arrived – two days after she was admitted – he called for an emergency c-section based on the fetal monitor readings. Once delivered, the infant received a brain MRI and was diagnosed with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. He will require 24/7 care for the rest of his life.

Ms. Lopez is admitted to practice before all of the courts of the State of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
